Meeting with the National Law Development Agency – November 15, 2016

ICLS met with the National Law Development Agency/ Badan Pembinaan Hukum Nasional (BPHN) on Tuesday, November 15 2016 at BPHN’s building. ICLS’ team was friendly welcomed by the Head of Legal Education and Aid, Mr. Audy Murfi MZ and his team. On that meeting there were some legal issues being discussed and also BPHN’s workplan was being introduced.

Christian Legal Class

The Christian Legal Class (CLC) on God’s Design for Government on November 3rd, 2016 was delivered by Mr. Patrick Talbot (Lecture of Law Faculty at Pelita Harapan University, leader of International Christian Legal Studies, International Justice Initiative, and associate of Advocates International) and Mr. Mark Beliles (President of Global Transformation Network) at Pondok Persaudaraan – Central Jakarta.

Launch of No Higher Calling Devotional Book for Advocates

“Tiada Panggilan yang Lebih Tinggi” (translated from 2nd edition of No Higher Calling Devotion Book published by Advocates International in 2016) was launched on the Gala Dinner and Talkshow held by Indonesian Christian Legal Society (ICLS) on November 4, 2016.

Justice Conference – November 4, 2016

Indonesian Christian Legal Society (ICLS) held the 1st Justice Conference in partnership with Transform World Connection Indonesia (TCI), and Komunitas Domain Abbalove. The Conference was participated by 50 participants from 8 (eight) cities (Manado, Denpasar, Yogyakarta, Bandung, Bogor, Tangerang, Bekasi, and Jakarta). The keynote speakers were Dr. Iman Santoso (TCI) and Prof. Dr. Gayus Lumbuun, SH, MH (Supreme Court – Indonesia), and 17 experts (Henri Subiakto, Magdalena Sitorus, Rizky Farrurrozi, John I.M. Pattiwael, Saor Siagian, Sugeng Teguh Santoso, Denny Sambeka, Sahat Hutagalung, Asfinawati, Bambang Noorsena, Kongkin Atmojo, Posma Rajagukguk, Daniel Ginting, and Paulus Tri Agung Kristanto) became panelists for 5 topics of Family and Community, Legal Aid for the poor and oppressed, Peace and Reconciliation, Religious Freedom, and Supremacy of Law. At the end of the conference, participants were encouraged to do some follow-up actions in their cities.

RUTA (Annual General Assembly)

The annual general assembly of Indonesian Christian Legal Society was successfully held on November 3rd 2016 at Pondok Persaudaraan – Central Jakarta. The assembly was participated by the Board members, Advisory Council members and representative from Chapters in Bogor, Tangerang, Bandung, and Bali. On that assembly, the Board Chairman encouraged all ICLS’ Board members to continue the good work that have been done in 2016 and share the plan for 2017. All Chapter’s representative and Legal Aid Unit also shared their achievement and plan. The general assembly also discussed the succession plan for Board and Advisory’s Council members for the period of 2017 – 2020.
